1. Join Wild California-CNetwork Team for the 92nd San
Francisco Bay to Breakers Training (05/11/2003)

Date: 5:15 pm May 11, 2003, Sunday

Please arrive on time.

Location: Saywer Camp Trail at San Mateo (south end)

http://www.bahiker.com/southbayhikes/sawyercamp.html

The nice part of the trail is that it is shaded, next to reservoir.

It has mileage marker every 0.5 mile, which is important to us.

What to prepare: shorts, T-shirt, running shoes, warm jacket, water

and energy bar if you want. Sun lotion is recommended, but not

overtake since it might irritate your eyes if you sweat a lot.

1) We will discuss the carpool on the race day and distribute bib

package. If you can't come, you either have to have someone pick up

or you pick up yourself before May 18. You need the package to be

familar the race including the course map etc. ahead of the race

day.

2) Every team member is strongly recommended to run at least 6

miles.

For questions, email to contact@cnetwork.org

Want to realize your entrepreneur dream or to build your own venture

during
this tough time? Do you know how to register a company by yourself,

how to do
financial planning, budget control, Tax management, equity structure

and how to
avoid some common mistakes and pitfall? Come and join this unique

series of
seminars. Our speakers will share with you hands-on knowledge and

experience of
major steps - how to start & manage an early stage company and let

you know how
to do it by yourself!

High tech startups are typically founded by entrepreneurs with

expertise in a
specific area, such as technology, manufacturing, finance, or

marketing.
Consequently, a first-time entrepreneur usually has an obscured view

towards
the business world during the embryonic stage, which is typically

followed by a
panic stage in which the entrepreneur is faced with a daunting

challenge of
pulling everything together under an unrealistic schedule and scarce

resources

CINA eSIG will host two seminars, covering fundamental topics for

prospective
entrepreneurs as shown below. As a follow-up event co-sponsored by

CINA eSIG,
an exciting hands-on boot camp will be hosted by TVBN at a beautiful

retreat in
the Sanborn Park of Saratoga, California. Please visit

www.cina.org/esig/ for
detail.

Seminar I: Financial Planning for Startups
Hosted by CINA eSIG, co-sponsored by TVBN
May 21, 6:30pm - 9:00pm

Know Your Numbers: The health and future growth of a corporation are

measured
in terms of a set of important numbers in financial statements.

Often
overlooked, ignoring them can be detrimental to the financial heath

of a
startup.
Budgeting and Projections: By its nature, a startup is always short

on
resources. Effective budgeting is critical to its survival. The

long-term
viability of a startup, however, needs to be validated and guided

under
sensible and realistic projections.
Taxing Issues: Good record keeping and timely filing are vital in

dealing with
IRS and State Franchise Authorities. Understanding the incentives

(such as
Section 179 deduction and newly enacted Special Depreciation

Allowance) can
reduce the taxes and improve the cash flow of a cash-strapped

startup.

Seminar II: Equity Planning for Entrepreneurs
Hosted by CINA eSIG, co-sponsored by TVBN
June 18, 6:30pm-9:00pm

Equity Structure: Different startups may have different equity

structures for
investors, founders, management and employees. There are, however,

guidelines
for equity allocation in a startup. How to cut the pie is a critical

issue of
providing the right incentives to everyone involved in growing the

company.

Individual Tax Planning for Stocks: Many have heard horror stories

of AMT on
stock options. Planning and filing related to private equity can be
complicated. The considerations vary, depending on the types and
classifications of stock, e.g. founder stocks, preferred stocks,

ISO, NSO,
ESOP, etc.
