Young Xie, Chairman of the Board
Young was among the first group of people who involved in CNetwork founding stage and was the one who coined the name "CNetwork". Over the years, Young has organized many activities/events for CNetwork, made significant contribution to the growth of CNetwork. He served the first term of VP of Activity at CNetwork. Young believes building a connected/strong Chinese community will benefit all of us personally and professionally. Young has strong interests in music, sports, and adventure. He is an advanced tennis player, actively play in USTA league, and a (ballroom) dance lover. Some of the exciting things Young had done ¨C whitewater rafting (Class 5), rock climbing (5.10), fly airplane, bungee jumping, hang gliding, summit Mt. Whitney (1999), ski black diamond run.

Professionally Young is an independent business system consultant currently working at Cisco systems. Prior to this, he worked at outsourcing company as a program manager, ERP system manager at various companies like Oracle, Intuit, iPrint, etc. He also founded an early stage start-up in 2001. Young held MSCS degree from San Jose State University and BS Physics from Xiamen University.

David Xie, Board Director
David is currently a Senior Research Associate in Drug Development at Genentech, Inc. (www.gene.com) a South San Francisco based world-leading biotech company where he has served the company since he was a summer intern in graduate school in 1995. Prior to that, he worked as a sales promoting medical imagers for 3M China (www.3m.com/intl/cn/index.html) in 1994 after one and half years of residency as surgeon at Beijing LongFu Hospital from 1992.

David has been the member since the founding of CNetwork. David served at CNetwork committee as Executive Vice President from 2001-2003 and President from 2003-2004 when he initiated, led and organized many bay area wide activities as well as Silicon Valley hi-tech delegations to China. David was also elected to executive committee of Sino-American Pharmaceutical Association, west region (www.sapa-west.org) and the founder of Wild-California (www.wild-california.org), an outdoor adventure club at South San Francisco Bay Area since 2001. David enjoys many outdoor activities including ski, windsurfing and backpacking. David is also an active runner, attending many races including San Francisco Bay to Breakers (www.baytobreakers.com) since 1999, California International Marathon in 2002 (www.runcim.org) and Beijing International Marathon in 2003.

David earned his M.D. from Capital University of Medical Sciences in China in 1992 and his MS from San Jose State University.

Guangyu Xu, Board Director
Mr. Xu serves as General Secretary of Hua Yuan Science & Technology Association. Over the years, he has been involved with organizing many large scale professional conferences, exchange programs and other activities in the Silicon Valley, focusing in high tech areas. He also led a couple of entrepreneur delegations to China during the past 3 years, visited high tech parks in Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Shenyang, Shenzhen, Wuhan, etc. Mr. Xu also served as President of CNetwork Organization from 1998 to 2000, and has been a CNetwork Board member ever since.

Professionally Mr. Xu develops web-based UI in LucidEra.com, a startup company focusing on Business Intelligence. He obtained M.S. degree at Syracuse University, and B.S. degree at University of Science and Technology of China.

Ping Gu, Board Director
Ping Gu Lee is currently owns a Real Estate Franchise Brokerage Firm in Downtown Sunnyvale after 5 years working for reputable real estate companies. Before she came to USA in 1998 she was a software engineer in U.K.

She was involved in organizing many large-scale community activities to promote Sino-UK friendship while she resided in U.K. Immediately after she came to Silicon Valley, she was invited to join CNetwork as a Vice President of Social Event in 1998 for 5 years. She served as a CNetwork Board Member after she resigned from the VP in 2003. She was soon elected as VP of Membership and Volunteers of NACSA (North American Chinese Semiconductor Association) in end of 2003.

She was actively involved with organizing many local community events and she has a strong desire to build a bridge between people, local organizations and between USA and China.

Ping obtained BS degree of Nuclear Physics at Tsinghua University. She has many hobbies: table tennis, singing, cooking etc.

June Sun, Board Director
After finishing her MBA study at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH in 2000, June decided to move to San Francisco Bay Area to be closer to technologies and innovations. She is a strong believer of continuous self-improvement and the importance of community to people's development. Since she came to Bay Area, she started her community service by volunteering for CNetwork and held various positions in CNetwork Executive Committee. Recently, she was elected as the President of CNetwork for 2004-2005. She is also a member of CNetwork board of directors.

Before her MBA at Case Western Reserve University, she obtained her B.S. from Beijing Science and Technology University majoring in International Business. Her working experience in US includes marketing positions at Goodyear Rubber & Tire, Ferro Corp. and China Internet Group. She now works for Oracle Corp. in product management for Oracle Financial products.

Her long lasting hobby is Public Speaking. As a long time Toastmaster International member, she won the second place of the evaluation contest at area level in 2003. She also enjoys hiking, camping and traveling.

Katherine Xu, Board Director
Katherine Xu is currently a research analyst covering the biotechnology/biopharmaceuticals sector at Pacific Growth Equities in San Francisco, an investment banking firm focused on emerging technology industries. Prior to joining Pacific Growth Equities, Katherine was a vice president of investment banking at Petkevich & Partners, a boutique investment banking firm focused on the life sciences industry, where she advised companies in a variety of engagements including mergers and acquisitions, workouts, spinouts, and private placements. Katherine holds a Ph.D. in Developmental Biology and a Ph.D. minor in Engineering-Economic Systems and Operations Research from Stanford University, and worked on a postdoctoral project in bioinformatics at Department of Mathematics, Stanford University. Katherine's research ranged from the study of the mechanisms of cancer employing genetic, cell biological, biochemical and molecular biology approaches, to data analyses in the bioinformatics arena. Prior to Stanford, Katherine attended Peking University in Beijing and Kalamazoo College in Michigan, where she gained her BA with honors.

Katherine also serves as Director of the Board for two non-profit organizations in the bay area: CNetwork Organization, the largest professional Chinese organization in the bay area; and The 1990 Institute, a think-tank whose mission is to search for policy-oriented solutions to economic and social problems that are impeding China's modernization.

Wanpeng Zhang, Board Director
Mr. Zhang is current Director of Product Development and Marketing in Cellphone-Mate, Inc. Before his startup experience, he held senior engineering position on the Broadband Communication and Storage products design in LSI Logic from 1999 to 2003.Prior to his high-tech career, Mr. Zhang held MS degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering Dept. from Oregon State University. From 2001 to 2003 he has studied in Management Science & Engineering Dept. in Stanford University focusing on marketing. Mr. Zhang was also former President of CNetwork Y2001-03.
John Liu, Board Director

John Liu was the President of CNetwork from Yr 2005 to April 2007. He is striving hard to pursue the balance of personal life, professional life and social life. Being enthusiastic, optimistic and energetic, he has been volunteering in non-profit community services throughout San Francisco Bay Area. Acting on CNetwork slogan -- "Enhance Career. Enrich Life", he has met many friends and achieved these accomplishments:
  1. Grand Canyon Rim-to-Rim Hike
  2. Glacier Point to Half Dome Hike
  3. Mt. Whitney Hike
John came to the USA in 1994. He graduated from Cleveland State University in Ohio, USA with Master of Computer Science. Before that, he got his Bachelor of Computer Science from South China University of Technology in Guangzhou, China. John is now working at Yahoo! in the effort "to connect people to their passions, their communities, and the world's knowledge."
